How much did Trump offer to buy Greenland ,How much would it cost to buy Greenland , How many times has the U.S. tried to buy Greenland

And while US President-elect Donald Trump takes office next

week and even before he's officially taken office he's made his intentions for a second term very clear Trump's annexation goals and aspirations are resonating on the international stage, the latest of which is to make Greenland part of the US So what does this mean for the NATO region we'll tell you in our next report,

take a look Donald Trump set off alarm bells last week when he said he wouldn't rule out the use of military force to bring Greenland and the Panama Canal under US rule Greenland is an autonomous territory under the Kingdom of Denmark which makes it part of the NATO alliance however the island has strategic importance to the US military and its ballistic missile early warning system because the shortest route from Europe to North America passes through the Arctic island This has been reported about for a long time,

even before I ran, I mean people have been talking about this for a long time, there's about 45,000 people there, people don't even really know if Denmark has any legal rights to it or not, but If that's the case then they should leave it because we need national security, it's for the free world, of course I want to say a few words on the ongoing discussion about this

Right now about Greenland I want to make it clear that in the eyes of the Danish government Greenland is for the Greenlandic people, it's a very proud people with their own language and culture, it's a people who belong to themselves and the president of the Greenland government Mook Ege has said before that Greenland is not for sale .

But are Greenlanders buying Trump's idea, according to a recent survey by Patriot Polling, most Greenlanders are in support of Greenland joining the United States, a survey conducted earlier this month found that 57.3% of the 416 respondents supported Greenland becoming part of the US, while on the other hand 37.4% opposed it and 5.3% are undecided on the idea.

The survey comes at a time when Republican lawmakers in the US House of Representatives are trying to garner support for a bill authorizing negotiations for the purchase of Greenland. According to the US Representative's office, the bill is named the Make Greenland Great Again Act. It reportedly has 10 co-sponsors. If the bill is passed, the President will be able to enter into negotiations with Denmark.

The leadership in Greenland is not happy and neither are the people of Denmark. Addressing a press conference with the Danish Prime Minister, the Greenland leader said that the country is not for sale.

The Danish Prime Minister reiterated this and said that in the eyes of the Danish government, Greenland is for Greenlanders. The Greenland Prime Minister further said that his government is looking for ways to cooperate with the United States and is ready to begin negotiations with the incoming Trump administration. However, he gave no indication that the island would be open to annexation by the US.
